About Joshua Boyt

The specialty coffee industry has been captivating Joshua since 2001. Growing up in a small town at the base of Mt. Rainier in Washington State he had very little opportunity to travel and see the world. Coffee has been the magic carpet ride that has not only helped him get to know many cultures around the world, but also truly know himself.

In 2001 Joshua took a position as a delivery driver for an espresso supply and equipment distributor called Atomic Distributing. Boyt worked his way up over the first couple of years with past sales experience to become an outside sales rep and later sales manager of what would be the largest specialty coffee supply distributor in the Northwest.

In 2005 Atomic Distributing was absorbed by its parent company Dillanos Coffee Roasters. At Dillanos Boyt had the unique opportunity to work under direct mentorship of Lon LaFlamme (past CEO of Publucis Marketing firm) and David Morris (Founder and CEO of Dillanos). This is what truly launched Joshua into his passion for business and brand development as well as opened the door to explore his growing passion for the bean.

In his time at Dillanos, Joshua traveled countless times across the country and globe supporting and developing business from one location to 100+ location chains. In addition to working over 30 trade shows with the Coffeefest program and running their international latte art competition for over five years.

Joshua is also a published author in numerous international trade publications as well as an amazing speaker drawing rave reviews from his seminars on coffee passion, precision, and potential as well as Emceeing many World & National Barista and competitions.

After 10 years with Dillanos it was time to leave and put all his experience to the test. Boyt opened Metronome Coffee, his own retail concept, in Tacoma Wa.

Metronome coffee has been winning awards and recognition since it opened. Metronome was also featured in the CNBC special “The Coffee Addiction” with industry giants Starbucks and Intelligentsia.

Most recently, in 2015 Joshua founded a business and brand development consulting firm called Tuning Fork Consulting and is helping many small and large business owners create and refine their mission, vision, and values then translate them into a successful business.

Boyt has also held the position of Northwest Regional chair for the Barista Guild of America from 2010-2012 and is currently on the editorial advisory board for Barista Magazine. Every day is an adventure and Joshua can’t wait to see what the future holds!
